Auricle Productions seeks a Director of Marketing and Operations with a passion for audio journalism and the vision and skills to take our organization to the next level. This is a full-time leadership position with diverse responsibilities, including marketing, financial operations, administration and strategic thinking. We’re looking for someone who can help us set smart, bold goals, and provide the experience, creativity and determination needed to achieve them.
Auricle Productions is a nonprofit journalism organization based in Missoula, Montana. We’re at an exciting stage in our development. Our flagship program, Threshold, has won multiple awards and attracted the support of leading organizations in our field. We’ve proven our concept -- now we’re ready to grow. Over the next 18 months, we plan to add staff, launch new projects, and significantly increase our audience. The new Director of Marketing and Operations will have a key role in this process.

Who We’re Looking For
The Director of Marketing and Operations will report to the executive producer, leading the business side of existing projects as well as planning and executing strategies for growth. With input and collaboration from the advisory board and the whole Threshold team, you’ll help us strengthen our internal infrastructure and grow our audience. Because this is a new position, you’ll have a strong hand in shaping it.
Areas of responsibility include:
Create and execute a three-year revenue strategy, which includes a marketing plan
Collaborate with development director on fundraising plans and projects
Take a leadership role in organizational strategic planning
Manage data and analytics systems, and turn data into clear, actionable insights
Manage budgets and accounting, including preparing financial statements, variance analyses and forecasts
Build, improve and document operating procedures
Manage legal and insurance matters

Education and experience
3+ years of leadership experience in marketing and/or operations roles, preferably in journalism
Proven results creating and managing revenue and marketing plans
Strong analytic skills and business acumen -- you can spot growth potential and build pathways toward it
Exceptional strategic thinking and communication skills
Understanding of nonprofit management, accounting principles and financial practices
Fluency with a wide variety of digital tools (Google analytics, CRM, Libsyn, etc.)
A passion for journalism and the ability to articulate why our unique style of storytelling matters to a wide variety of audiences
Working knowledge of the journalism and podcasting landscape preferred; however, if you don’t have that knowledge, tell us how you plan to acquire it
Humility and humor
