A message from our founder:

We are living in a time of tipping points. Critical moments of change are looming in the realms of climate, extinction, and pollution—but also in terms of awareness and action. So much is at stake, and so much is possible.

I created Threshold because I wanted to make a space to think clearly and feel deeply about all of this. What does it mean to be the dominant species on this beautiful, imperiled planet? How do we take responsibility for our impact without collapsing into overwhelm? How can we hold each other accountable without devolving into mindless power battles? How do we get through this, together?

And by “we” I don’t just mean us humans, but all life.

We’ve now made five seasons of Threshold, and we want to make more. But we can’t do it without your help. We’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization funded almost entirely by you, our listeners. This allows us to make the kind of show we want to make: science positive, wildly imaginative, and fiercely independent. We’re not counting click-throughs to advertisements (because we don’t run ads, and because that’s a silly way to measure the value of a show). Our metric of success is creating episodes that make you laugh, and cry, and learn, and leave you feeling more open to wonder, and more connected to all the life around you.

Why now?

Our year-end campaign is happening now through December 31st. Your donation during this time determines what we can accomplish next year.

  • Donations directly support our reporting and production. We are a small organization with no physical location, so overhead and administrative costs are minimal. Our primary expenses are staff, travel, equipment, and online tools.

  • Yes, we accept gifts of stocks and mutual funds. Please contact Deneen Wiske at deneen@thresholdpodcast.org to explore these options.

  • Threshold has its roots in Missoula, Montana, where we were founded and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our small team works remotely and creates Threshold from around the U.S. and the world, so we do not have a physical location (or the associated expenses!).
